Q3 2026 LATAM Energy & Mining: Execution is the Clearest Signal

The strongest signal in LATAM energy and mining this quarter is no longer announced capital. It is execution: approvals converting into FIDs, construction, commissioning, and operations-readiness. Across Argentina, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico, the work that creates near-term hiring demand is already visible on the ground.

Q3 2026 highlights

  • Execution is leading: Pampa approved a US$2.7bn urea FID (2.1 Mtpa), while Southern Copper’s Tía María reached 42% completion with 5,817 jobs reported
  • LNG and offshore are moving toward delivery, including Ecopetrol’s Buenaventura process expecting first receipt in November 2026
  • Copper’s next wave is taking shape: Peru’s multi-project pipeline, Argentina’s Vicuña RIGI plan, and Chile’s Los Bronces–Andina proposal
  • Hiring demand is following project stage, not headlines. It is strongest where FID, construction, restart or live procurement is already underway

Near-term talent pressure is showing up in project controls, construction, commissioning, SX-EW, drilling and early project leadership, particularly in Peru, Colombia and Argentina.
